Butlins
Butlins has changed beyond all recognition from the early days of holiday camps. The first ever Butlins was opened in 1936 by Billy Butlin in Skegness way back in 1936 offering low cost family holidays to the public, many of whom had never had a holiday before. With chalet type accommodation, knobbly knee competitions and the famous Redcoats the holidays were an immediate hit.
Today the Butlin Holiday Worlds have changed with the times and still offer great value but the accommodation and activities are now far more twenty first century covering soccer schools, live shows, waterworlds and funfairs. Another popular idea introduced by Butlins is the Adult Big Weekend which is regularly held at resorts in the south of England. For more details visit www.butlins.com
